Best comp to WLB ratio?

Hi everyone! I’ve been obsessively following WSO for about a month now and its really piqued my interest.

Some background:

I’m an incoming Oxbridge first-year in an econ-related program. My ultimate goal is to get a Masters in Public Policy and then work for an NGO or something related. But until then I want to work in finance for several years to be able to save up some money for my masters and to pay back my loans as well as setting up my parents for retirement (who have sacrificed so much for me to get here).

That being said, my question is the following: Which sector/job in finance has the best comp to WLB ratio?

Since I ultimately dont want to have a career in finance I dont care about exit opps. And generally I don’t care much about prestige so thats not a factor either. I just want to have a job for a few years that has reasonable hours (for finance standards at least) and to also be comped reasonably well so that I can save up some juice while also being able to spend time with family and pursuing hobbies.

I’ve heard ER and AM would be good options but I’m not sure how easy it would be to land those straight from UG.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
