Even though this post is a bit poorly written, conventionally I've heard that it pays more to be a coverage officer than an execution banker (M&A/RX)
Whatever vertical you know the best and can create the most meaningful client relationships in. There is no "best" group to be an MD in, everyone has different experiences and strengths. Further, I am in FIG with a focus on depositories, can confidently say that you don't have to be a genius to advise banks lol.
