Best group to work for at GOOG

what are some of the best non-engineering groups/divisions to work for at GOOG? wanting to make a transition but would ultimately like to be in the FO revenue generating divisions... looks like business strategy and sales & account mgmt are my best bets.

also, how easy is it for someone to get into goog without an engineering background, say someone who studied PPE politics, philosophy and economics at university..

discuss.

Thanks, most PM jobs if you look at it closely require strong technical backgrounds, Fin jobs are also out because they are FP&A etc.

Most of the PM's at Google I've seen have been MBA's with CS / Engineering undergrads or ex strategy consultants who know a particular business very well. If you don't have an engineering background, I'd stick to more big picture stuff -- strategy, finance, etc.

I would say the best groups are ones that you didn't list: Google Ventures, Google X Lab, etc.

As far as what you did list, Product Management is probably the best role, but one does not simply start a career in GOOG Product Management at the entry-level. Thus, I'd say Business Strategy would be top second pick if you could get it.

ummm if u look at don dodges blog, less than 1% of applicants get hired.. so getting into goog is already tough enough let alone these l33t groups...and the fact that they have almost 0 openings...

without a proper .edu pedigree or mbb/gs work ex, and sold company for >50mm, its gonna be hard to even break in. trying to set expectations here...

but yeah ure right goog pm isnt at entry level.
