Better to Apply Early?

Currently applying for BofA sophomore internship 2025. Is it better to apply early to have the chance of your resume being read? Or should I wait for a month to complete a summer business course and complete my internship with more quantifiable results? The application is open on June 1st and closed on October 2nd

Based on the most helpful WSO content, applying early can be advantageous, especially for competitive programs like the BofA sophomore internship. Here are some key points to consider:

  1. Early Application Benefits:

    • Higher Chances of Being Noticed: Early applications are often reviewed more thoroughly as the volume of applications is lower.
    • Quotas: Some programs may fill up quickly, so applying early can ensure you are considered before spots are taken.
  2. Current Resume Strength:

    • If your current resume already includes strong elements such as leadership roles, relevant internships, and solid academic performance, it might be beneficial to apply early.
    • Example: One user mentioned having a variety of retail jobs, leadership/volunteering experience, and insight days, which made their CV strong enough to apply early.
  3. Waiting for Additional Experience:

    • If the summer business course and internship will significantly enhance your resume with quantifiable results, it might be worth waiting.
    • Example: Another user considered waiting to apply until they could add their upcoming internship and a higher GPA to their resume.
  4. Balancing Both:

    • You could apply early with your current resume and update your application later with new achievements if the platform allows it.
    • Networking with alumni and professionals in the meantime can also help tip the odds in your favor.

In summary, if your current resume is strong, applying early can be beneficial. However, if the additional experience will significantly boost your application, waiting might be the better strategy. Consider the specific requirements and competitiveness of the BofA program to make an informed decision.
