BGL New York

Heard BGL has a group in NY now. And that they are now at market in terms of pay and bonus. Feels like they are making a push. Lots of hiring and growth over the past year or two and they crushed it in 2023,~30% rev growth.

Anyone know what’s going on there? Are they a threat to HL, Baird, Blair in the MM?

I’ll play devils advocate since this forum is consistently negative on BGL. They are recruiting a lot of middle market MDs and expanding. It isn’t a prestigious bank, but they are investing in growth, unlike most other firms. I’d imagine most of the NY bankers are new to the bank, so toxic culture might not be as pronounced there. They just started a tech group. Bonus season / layoffs are a bloodbath across the street… BGL isn’t the worst place to land
