I've seen most BBs trying to get in on the game but JPM has been by far the most active across all verticals (metals, chems, tech, manufacturing, recycling). GS probably second.
Honorable mention to Nomura, MS, BofA, CS (RIP) and Citi as well.
For JPM specifically, does the coverage fall under industrials?
I don't work there so don't know how they structure it I'd think that the parts which are EV auto manufacturing (Tesla, Arrival, Lucid etc.), battery manufacturing (Northvolt), battery chemicals and recycling do. Battery tech companies like QuantumScape and Group 14 might fall under TMT. Different at every bank though.
I doubt Tesla is covered by JPM, Musk despises the bank haha.
Would assume MS is behind them specifically, but saw that JPM did Rimac/Porsche merger, so exposure is solid on both. Would be terrific to get someone from the group working on those types of mandates chime in
Didn't say they were, just named an example to make the distinction between EVs and batteries. Don't know if JPM covers any of the companies I listed except Northvolt.
I think Tesla is banked by MS
People have already touched upon the downstream aspect. Upstream (battery metals), you'll see a lot of the banks out in Toronto and Sydney doing a lot of work.
