Bloomberg Global Data Internship
Does anyone have any info on this program? I've got a phone interview coming up and was looking for some info. Also how is this looked upon for FT IBD recruiting?
Also where is this actually based? The location says Skillman, NJ (?) but everyone on linkedin is NYC.

fine if ur a sophomore..
make sure to bring up the bloomberg terminal, they will be happy.
I'm a junior....
yes, the HR lady will definitely ask you, "Where do you think bloomberg gets most of its revenues from?"
you would be well advised to say "the bloomberg terminal you stupid sow"
then they will FORCE you to provide them with the salary figure you expect to make. if you say anything higher than $16/hour you'll get dinged.
if it aint IBD or finance related, it aint worth ur junior year....
its pretty legit. i had a friend from NJ do that sophomore year, junior year they went to ML and FT they went to thomas weisel.
Do any of you guys know where it is located? I'm hearing different things, some people say it's NJ some are saying it's NYC.
Global data is in skillman nj, about 10 min from princeton. they do have a small team in nyc but you will definitely be in nj. not ideal to break into banking but not the worst option either. they pay pretty well and you can leverage your bloomberg knowledge in interviews. hope that helps.
Made it thru 1st round phone interview, just had 2nd round. Waiting 1-2 weeks to hear back if offered internship
1st Round: They will tell you what its about, what you will do, who you will work with, and that they will pair you up in teams. You will also get BT certified. Some questions they asked: 1. How would you differentiate yourself from the many interns? 2. Why should they hire you over all the others? 3. What skills do you possess relevant to the industry/job? 4. Why Bloomberg?
2nd Round: They'll reconfirm what they told you in 1st Round. 1. Who are our clients/competitors? 2. What do you know about Bloomberg? 3. Why did you pick Bloomberg? 4. What would be a deciding factor in your internship search from Bloomberg and XYZ (I mentioned I applied to IB and ST elsewhere) 5.. Ever have trouble @ a job and how you handled it 6. How would you explain to someone what Bloomberg is 7. What do you do in your spare time.
I thought 1st round was pretty shaky, but 2nd round went great. Will follow up on results.
Also passed the first round. This is pretty helpful as I'm going to be doing the second. I can confirm they ask you "why Bloomberg?" Questions they asked me: -Tell us about yourself -Did you apply anywhere else?
Those three were pretty much it and something else that was similar to the previous questions. First phone interview is pretty much getting to know more about you.
Edit:One of the questions was "do you use excel?" Now I remember..
what type of wok would you do in the global data group?
how long was it after you submitted your resume (i'm assuming online, through their website?) before you heard back from them? and how did you hear back (email, phone call, etc)?
submitted resume thru school's career center, received call the next day to schedule phone interview (for GD internship)
This was the process for a FT in Global Data....
Applied online..got an email about 3 days later asking for a phone interview...phone interviewed and got an email 3 days later asking for an in-house interview...went in and got an offer 3 days later.
does anybody know what this is like in terms of exit ops into finance/IBD?
That's a ver good question I've been trying to find the answer to, what are the exit ops from Bloomberg as a Data Analyst? I hear a lot of different things. I hear turn over rate is high people head for the doors only after 1yr. If that's true then there should be many people out there who can answer this question. Does having that working experience on your resume get you any closer to Ibanking, be it BB or MM?
Go for S&A, not Global Data.
What do the exit ops for data look like for FT? I've heard mixed things

Any one have a good description of Bloomberg's Global Data Summer Internship. I applied online a month or so ago to a bunch of different positions there to hedge my banking opportunities, and now the description is offline.
I searched the forums and no one has answered the question before.
Thanks,
This is what the listing says...pretty general The Company Bloomberg is the leading global provider of data, news and analytics. The BLOOMBERG TERMINAL and Bloomberg's media services provide real-time and archived financial and market data, pricing, trading, news and communications tools in a single, integrated package to corporations, news organizations, financial and legal professionals and individuals around the world.
The Role Bloomberg offers exciting opportunities for highly motivated problem solvers. The successful applicants will be involved in the design and development of its state-of the-art line of financial information products. This position leads to a variety of career paths ranging from technologist to financial specialist. An extensive training program provides the Bloomberg specific technical and financial skills needed to succeed in the fast-paced world of finance and technology.
I interviewed for this last year...the first guy was kind of an asshole and kept asking me why he should hire a history major. a valid question, but it turned me off to the position. the second round went better, but this job is more of an opps internship, so ultimately thats why i declined
how did you apply to more than one position through their website? did you write different cover letters and labeled them differently? i want to apply to more than one position, but i don't know if that will jeopardize my chances for my first choice.
any information on how this went would be appreciated
