Hi All,
I have an interview coming up with BMO’s M&A group in Toronto and was wondering what to expect? Any insight would be much appreciated!

Career Resources
I interviewed for a summer analyst position but for what it’s worth, they asked a lot of pretty tough behaviourals.
E.g Tell me about a time you had difficulty working with a team, tell me about a time you failed, tell me about a time when your group members didn’t meet your expectations etc
Definitely prepare a few stories
Good luck!
That’s some good insight, thanks a lot! Any idea how hard it wood be to lateral from BMO M&A to a bank in the US or a PE fund?
Once again, this is coming from someone still in school but, I have seen that it is possible to lateral from a big 5 bank to a strong us bank. I've seen people lateral to Lazard or Evercore recently. It'll definitely be unlikely to lateral straight to a us but-side but could definitely go for Canadian buy-side. If you want to do us buy-side, it'd be best to try to lateral to a us bank first.Good luck!
not too tough and would definitely do it. I interviewed for an associate role but ended up somewhere else. Based on stories from my friends who did end up in that group, i’m glad I didn’t.
The junior I networked with said the interview will be "informal" not too sure what he meant by that and how to prepare.
My other question is, how much is it really worth trying to go the US if you’re going to come back anyways. Doesn’t the higher comp in New York or SF get offset by the cost of living?
Is this for an experienced lateral hire or new grad / SA role?
