BNP Paribas Superday

Hi everyone. I have a superday for BNP Paribas either Thursday or Friday this week for Leveraged Finance. Has anyone done this before and have any advice? I know LEVFIN is more aggressive than typical M&A, and I am feeling lost. Thank you.

For your BNP Paribas Leveraged Finance Superday, here's what you need to know based on the most helpful WSO content:

  1. Interview Structure: Expect a mix of technical, aptitude, behavioral, and cultural interviews. Prepare for each type:

    • Technical: Be ready to discuss leveraged finance-specific concepts like debt structures, credit metrics, and LBO modeling. Know how bond prices relate to yields and understand DCF and PE ratios.
    • Aptitude: These may test your problem-solving and analytical skills. Practice mental math and logic-based questions.
    • Behavioral: Prepare stories that highlight your teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving abilities. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers.
    • Cultural: Research BNP Paribas thoroughly. Understand their recent deals, values, and culture. Show that you align with their team dynamics and work ethic.
  2. Leveraged Finance Focus:

    • Understand the basics of leveraged finance, including how companies use debt to fund acquisitions or growth.
    • Be familiar with credit analysis, debt covenants, and the risks associated with high leverage.
    • Review recent leveraged finance deals, especially those involving BNP Paribas, to demonstrate your market awareness.
  3. Preparation Tips:

    • Technical Knowledge: Brush up on Finance 101 concepts. Know how to value a company, calculate EBITDA, and explain the impact of interest rate changes on bond prices.
    • Firm Knowledge: BNP Paribas employees take pride in their firm. Research their recent achievements, deals, and market position.
    • Personal Pitch: Prepare a compelling story about why you’re interested in leveraged finance and why BNP Paribas is the right fit for you.
  4. General Superday Advice:

    • Be confident but humble. Show that you’re not only smart but also someone they’d want to work with for long hours.
    • Practice answering common IB interview questions. Memorize answers from a reliable guide and ensure you can explain them clearly.
    • Stay composed under pressure. Superdays are intense, but preparation will help you stay calm and focused.

Remember, the goal is to stand out as someone who is technically sound, culturally aligned, and a good fit for the team. Good luck!
