Breaking in from Leasing & Asset Finance?

I'm currently a senior at a target that didn't have any luck getting an IB offer (despite getting interviews) due to a lack of relevant internships. I did manage to get a job at a Japanese bank in New York doing asset finance. I will be going through a typical Wall Street training program and then spend most of my time building and maintaining models while on the job.

While I'm willing to give this a shot, I don't think this is something I'd want to do for more than a few years. What are the exit opportunities from leasing and asset finance in general and is it possible to transition into IB or a buyside role? My ultimate goal would be a growth equity position sometime down the line.

I realize the answer is probably it's possible or YMMV, but would love to hear thoughts on about breaking in from a related industry with a classic training program/experience asset modeling and any advice you might have to make that possible.
