C in Math

So, I'm going into soph year at a target school and am an engineer with mostly solid grades and a reasonably competitive GPA. The one glaring exception in the good grades is a C in a math class (Linear Algebra).

It's still early in the game, but... Given the solid GPA, how much does this hurt me going into sophomore year internships? Also, if I've got solid grades in my other quantitative classes (engineering classes), does that make up (prove that I'm not a numbers dolt)?

My leadership + prior experience, by the time internship season begins in the winter, should be above average, maybe well above average for soph year.

I had a freak C+ in an advanced Calculus course my sophomore year. Still landed a BB SA spot in IB. In my experience, extremely time consuming extracurriculars (varsity sports, leadership roles, internships during school,..., etc) can sometimes get you off the hook for one or two unusually low grades.

Tiger, relax... this will make anyone feel better.

I got a "D" in Physics III. I had to re-take the course because it was a f'n required core class. I got a "C" the 2nd time around. I must have scored 2 pts higher on the final 'cuz I really didn't try that much harder the second time around. Perhaps the professor was merciful or better yet, perhaps the curve was better. Who cares what the reason was. I passed with a C. Done. It's history. I just hated physics. Let me emphasize... H A T E D physics. It's all irrelevant now anyway.

I know in your sophmore year every grade is magnified and everyone panics over GPAs and internships etc. Just let it go.

In interviews, or when I've submitted transcripts no one has EVER asked me a thing about it. You're studying engineering for crying out loud. C'mon.

Now, if you got a "C" in art history... now that would be tragic!

Let me just say, Art History is insanely difficult. More work than you'll ever imagine and not even close to easy.

Gotta agree with that assessment. Art History is probably one of the hardest classes you can take if the professor is legit/renowned.

What if you have great extra curriculars at a great school (HPY) but get a bad grade in an easy class (like first year spanish) and it brings your gpa to sub 3. Can you pretty much forget about an internship after sophmore year? I mean I know that I can pull my gpa up over time but what can I do about my sophmore summer?
