Call with ED

Tomorrow I have a call with an ED at MS: I found his email on my prev employer's alumni website.

I am seeking advice on the questions to ask during the conversation as it will be the first of this nature. The way I would structure the chat is:

  • Greetings (Thanks for taking the time to talk to me, etc.)
  • My background (BSc MSc Economics, MBA, MBB)
  • Why I am reaching you out (I'd love banking for the challenges and possibility of being on the newspaper, MS has a great culture, MS dealflow is great, etc.)
  • I have some questions for you prince (how did you become ED, who are you looking for in an application, any recommendation on how I should begin the formal process?)

Guys, any suggestion?

Stop obsessing, Taylor Townsend. Have a plan for making conversation if you need to, but if it looks too practiced, planned, or orchestrated, you'll look a little... odd.

Just relax and try to get the guy talking about himself. How he started out his career- how he got into banking. What 2008 was like. Get him to start telling you a story or give you advice. When you know him well enough to feel comfortable with it, start telling your story. It'll happen naturally.
