I wouldnt say cap intro is better than sales. In sales you are a revenue generator with a distinct PnL. In Cap Intro its very arbitrary in terms of how much value you are actually bringing in.

They are different roles within different parts of the bank.

If you are referring to traditional sales then thats in the securities division. Cap Intro is in prime brokerage.

I think sales is self explanatory.

Cap Intro introduces investors to hedge funds. They are event planners, relationship managers, and good cap intro ppl are very well-known within the industry.

Cap intro is not really dependent on what happens in the market unless its a huge event that dries up credit.
