Career Advice Banking vs Consulting

Hello everyone currently I am in a dilemma I figure only strangers on the internet can help me with. So a little background on my CV, I come a non-target background with a 3.2 GPA in finance. I have been able to complete four internships in my time in undergrad which has helped me get this far.

Currently I have plans to graduate in the middle of this month and have a job accepted out of state at a new growing firm that does risk consulting for financial services companies for example: HF, VC, and PE. In this role this role I will be working closely with the MD of the office and having exposure to meet the clients. I have always found myself more of a people person rather than analytical thinker.

I thought my post graduation was set when I received a text from my buddy who is an analyst at our local Investment Bank who operates in very low middle market firm specialized in RE. Growing up I never thought Id see the day where I would consider passing up a IB job but now I am very torn.

The reason for my struggles are for the following reasons:

I do want to move out of state I am not positive on my exact career trajectory (I am not afraid of failing and having to hustle) Obviously IB has higher pay via bonus but that isnt guaranteed

Any advice will be appreciated thank you.

No idea what LMM exit would be but I doubt it would be anything good. Search up guys coming out from LMM they usually try to exit to MM firms or end up at some unknown finance firm doing who knows what.

As for grad school, no idea but having a no-name firm (even with significant experience) will not get you far with MBA especially with T-15 and with your current resume.

What’s the IB place like? What’s the deal flow like? Will you actually get to model? Are you fine with doing RE?
