CFA financed by firm

Hi guys, I’m an A1 in a valuation group (HL/D&P), recently joined the group after 1 year at a B4 valuation, and a CFA lvl 1 secured. I want to proceed the CFA studying and sign for the lvl 2. I was wondering if this is something common for the firm to finance for it’s employees as it’s super relevant to my work and is meaningful there. If so, how do I approach this with my firm? Is it polite to ask or this is something I should sneak in and just hope my boss will suggest the gesture? (I’ll note that I’m a new joiner, just a couple of months).

Happy to hear your thoughts, thanks!

Why not ask your HR or benefits department? Or if any coworkers have a CFA and have been there long enough they got it while at the firm, ask them.

I've seen AM and ER groups sponsor the CFA, often you have to pay upfront and pass if you get reimbursed. Even if not directly for the CFA lots of firms have broad learning reimbursements which would also apply here.

If it's relevant to your role your firm may cover costs. Just ask and phrase as "I was wondering" it's not a bad thing to ask

I would say just ask, it is not a bad question at all and at the very least it shows you are committed to continued education. Secondly, I work at one of the above two firms in valuation so I might know you. Feel free to dm me, I have gotten part of my CFA paid for by the firm. The Company I work for has a full document detailing how to gain approval and how much will be paid out. It's a very straightforward process.
