CFA® or ERP ?

Hello,

Before asking my question, a little bit of background:

I was working in the consulting field for around 2-3 years located in North Africa, and serving local companies. I decided to make the jump to North America, and join the Master of Energy Economics program at Rice University.

Having just one year of Master, even in a great university not being enough, I decided to also add to my skills, and I started learning R from Datacamp. I now seek to work in energy analytics, trading, economics or consulting.

In my networking process, I've talked to someone working as a commodity trader, and he advised me to do the ERP certification. The catch is that I was planning on doing the CFA®
. Which left me a bit puzzled as to which to take.
Of course, I know that CFA®
is much more broad than ERP. However, aspects of risk management are popping-up in everything energy related. And it becomes more and more important to really understand risk management behavior to trade or even build an understanding of the energy markets.

What elements should I consider to make my decision ?
