Chinese interest rates
Can someone explain to me why their increase in interest rates is so important?
Just read a news story about it, and I understand that they are trying to slow growth, but why is it such a big deal for the whole world?

Check that out. Great explanation and proposes a great viewpoint
The world is relying on China to drive growth. Chinese growth was at 9.6% (annualized) today, and this is the lowest it has been for some time. If interest rates go up in China to control inflation, growth will also slow. This means less industrial production, less commodity usage, less trade...
China, on the margin, is contributing a large part to world growth right now. The danger is if the economy slows down, exports will fall, the shippers and baltic dryship index will be crushed, etc.
