CIti FIG’s culture isn’t great from what I heard, but definitely better than FTP. You’d probably get looks from HHs at both.
I personally would go with Citi for culture / brand name.
You'll have a pretty horrible experience at FTP. I'd personally go with Citi FIG
even if youre closing better deals at FTP, and thats a big if, Citi fig still. That place is as sweaty as it gets
Important to note that if you get placed in the banks or insurance verticals within FIG your exit opps will be pretty silod
Is asset management/fintech a better route?
yes, but pretty much everyone will be gunning for that group
Too add to the Citi FIG chorus, you can transfer out of the group after 2 years as a senior analyst in another group (I know someone that did this and is now in PE)
Don't go with FTP. Have a couple friends who absolutely hate it there
What are exits like out of Citi FIG? I get that FTP isn't a good place to start off, but doesn't FIG pigeonhole you pretty badly for exits?
