anyone who says this just do quick napkin math in Excel and come back and tell us what you’re working with. are you suggesting more area for less cost per month? do you want to know based on value? what do you value? this is like asking NYC or Chicago, how tf could anyone give you a meaningful response?
weehawken isn’t what i’d describe as for “indoorsy” people. is this just a question of how much you would or could save? you aren’t going to be saving anything substantial to be honest, just pick which location you enjoy more.
Any new apartment in Weehawken is far better than any sub $5k apartment in Manhattan which is why I would prefer living there. And anyways, I am not asking for opinion on where I should live, only want to understand what the realistic commute time would be and if people generally commute 30-40mins to work.
You are 100% not getting door-to-door from anywhere in Weehawken to your midtown office in 20 minutes.
The ferry is 8 mins long (I think) and it drops you off at West 39th harbor. I would just see how long it’ll take you to get from West 39th to your office, and the ferry station to your place. For what it’s worth unless your office is in Hudson Yards on the water I don’t see how this commute will be any less than 30 mins.
thanks! this is helpful. Most of the people I know work at Hudson Yards, makes more sense now why Weehawken works for them.
If you're dead set on Jersey I'd say do Hoboken or Jersey City and take the PATH train in.
nope not dead set at all, just figuring out what is reasonably doable
The fuck is weehawken
Highly advise against a longer than necessary commute for a 1st year in IB. I hated my life due to the hours without thinking of increasing my daily commute by 1 hour+ across morning and night.
Hey thanks man, that is how I am thinking as well
Union City is where it's at
