Corporate banking recruitment

1. corporate banking recruitment timelines?

2. Is the competition as high as in IB?

3. Any firms hiring corporate banking analysts right now or for january?

4. Is networking important in corporate banking as well , like in IB?

(Prospective 1st year analyst, not looking for internship, graduating in December)

  1. Most of the top firms (JPM, WF, BofA) start in August/Sept and are wrap up mid-late Nov.

  2. Definitely not, most intern interviews are behavioral. But if you do get technicals it’s usually credit-focused and basic accounting. The hardest thing you’ll get is a credit test.

  3. Not sure, if anyone could chime in that would be great.

  4. Yes. You need to network to increase your chances of getting an interview.

Would argue against the person above. Yes CB interviews are easier from a technical side but competition is a lot higher as incoming CB classes are 25-30 compared to 125-75 analysts in IB. My firm (CIB BB) has a few Analyst 1-2 spots open right now but received hundreds of applications for those few slots. Market is tough at the moment. Great gig overall though.

I believe the intern is process is over but would recommend networking.
