DCM Internship interview questions
Hi everyone. I have an upcoming interview for an internship in DCM syndicate at a top European bank known for its strong capital markets team. They've closed great deals in the past years and have more in their pipeline. The interviews are accelerated from what I heard and they try to ask as many questions as possible. The interview will be with a director and an associate. This interview should be for all functions: origination, structuring, etc. They rotate interns and there's a chance to land LevFin eventually, which would obvs be better.
I have compiled these topics from previous threads: understand all basic fixed income pricing concepts & terminology (shouldn't be an issue since I did CFA L2); yield curve, Z/I/G spreads; questions about the markets recently; Euribor/libor/SOFR rates.
What other technical questions can I expect? Thanks in advance!
Doubt they will ask Z/I/G Spreads for an intern role as it is just a different way to quantify a credit spread. Know how to answer a question like rates are rising and becoming more volatile what would investors do in such a situation if they are currently holding xxx type bonds? One answer: as bonds are more risky, more investors will flock towards govvies or higher rated bonds. And perhaps think about how comps are determined for bonds and what determines investor demand
comps are determined basically in accordance with the general bond characteristics (maturity, credit risk, coupons etc)?
