Dealflow at MM?

Chimps - incoming analyst at a top MM (WB/Blair/Baird/HL) and wondering how the deal flow and future pipeline is looking. Am aware Blair has had layoffs but don’t think the others have had any. Are HL/Baird poised to lay off employees soon or pull FT offers? Sweating heavily as graduating into a recession.

I doubt HL will have any meaningful CF layoffs. Can't remember the last time the firm has laid anyone off (besides weeding out the bottom performers). Besides, the RX group will make up for lost CF revenue.

Can’t speak for Baird, but I thought they had layoffs in late 2022?

True about HL. Don’t think Baird had many layoffs. 2020 Covid ones are the ones that come to mind

Can speak on some of this in Chicago anecdotally. Blair is done with layoffs (people inside the company think they over-fired). They’re closing deals and everyone is busy. HL isn’t as busy right now with deal flow in their M&A groups, but many transactions are in the pipeline so they likely won’t lay off so they aren’t understaffed if there’s a sudden push. Baird had a job posting up recently and I believe they made a few hires, so I doubt layoffs are coming there.

Obviously things could get worse, but I wouldn’t bet on more mass layoffs coming soon.
