While MF PE firms are well distinguised, there seems to be a lot less clarity in the MM PE range. What would constitute a LMM PE firm vs a MM PE firm? Would a PE firm with $1 - $2 billion AUM and invests in companies with EBIDTAs between $5 - $50 million be a lower mid market or a MM PE firm? Is it difficult to go from an elite boutique IB to these level firms?
