How badly did you mess it up? If the guys name is Ranjit and you called him Paul then see above^ (and basically 99% of other variations also = see above)

attention to detail in banking is key, i guess, and using a completely different name for the Partner of an IB at which you hope to intern is a pretty fatal & careless error IMO. Also, apologizing for that is super awkward so I would just move on.

When you say move on, do you mean move on like pretend it never happened, or move on and never contact him again.

what would be the nature of any future correspondence with him? Either he offers you an internship or it's a dead end. In the event that you do develop some kind of professional relationship, obviously pretend it never happened.
My first reaction is some sort of autocorrect blame as well. Tell him you wrote it on your iPhone and your brothers name is josh and it got auto corrected without realizing it.
Is it air tight? Nope. Will he give you the benefit of the doubt? Possibly.
"I know you think you understand what you thought I said but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant."
Don't feed him too much information, then it's an obvious lie. A good "Oh shit, autocorrect, sorry Name" would suffice. You can then follow up later to his reply explaining.

Would you recommend me send this out considering it's Saturday today?
In my opinion, don't blame it on autocorrect. How many people have autocorrect on their browser? That is the first thing that comes to mind. He will know you are trying to cover it up. Ding.
If it was me...
Just do not say anything about it. Nothing. When you send a follow up email asking if there is someone in HR to reach out to, or whatever/whenever the next logical email would be, use the correct name. Now he knows for sure you know his name because a week later you used the correct one.
(and I used the wrong name once... a weird name and I put an "L" where there shouldn't be an "L". He called me out on it. Told me to respect busy people more... he was a dick. Everyone I told that story to thought he was as well. Most people aren't like that.)
If it bothered him, you are out of luck anyway. So just hope he didn't care. Best of luck!
Fingers crossed he doesn't read WSO as well if you go with the autocorrect play. haha

I have this software that tells me when someone opens the email. I know he's opened it but he didn't respond, so hopefully, he didn't see it or doesn't give a shit. I'll get it right definitely next time.

If you would have emailed IMMEDIATELY saying it was autocorrect it probably would have went over better than way after the fact.
