Disgusted by co-workers / seniors

Have been in this industry for like 4 years and it is so disgusting that people email in a way that they feel super entitled and command you "asap" here and there, pushing you non-stop to rush for admin tasks that are non-urgent same day on a weekend, etc.

Does anyone else feel the same way many seniors or co-workers have "attitude" issue? Some guys should stop complaining others being not pro-active enough but instead reflect if they have priority issues and super restless on trivial garbages?

Also, people in this job give so many garbage comments or judge those who stay silent. Most of these garbage comments can be made by any entitled high school pricks tbh, its just we have humility and we don't bother wasting effort on value adding trivial stuff.

They don't have an attitude problem? Managing people in IB is incredibly difficult and requires not-so-nice tactics. It is implied that in a high stress environment the person above you is not out to get you, but rather just wants a high quality work product in a time squeeze.

Oh, I hear you loud and clear! It's a jungle out there in the finance world, and sometimes it feels like we're all just trying to swing from one vine to another without getting eaten by the lions.

It's unfortunate, but some people do seem to have an "attitude" issue. They might be feeling the pressure and taking it out on others, or they might just be, well, not the nicest monkeys in the troop. It's important to remember that their behavior reflects on them, not on you.

As for the garbage comments, it's like my old mentor used to say: "Opinions are like bananas, everyone's got one and they all stink after a while." It's easy to judge others, especially when you're not the one in the hot seat. But at the end of the day, the only opinion that really matters is your own.

So keep your chin up, keep swinging, and remember: even in the wildest jungle, there's always a banana tree somewhere. You just have to find it.

I agree 1000%. I was in the military before in a hard charging unit and you would never email someone at 11pm demanding them to do something.  Or send a call invite at 4pm on Saturday 15 mins prior and expect them to join and do work asap.

Outside of deployments, people understood that people have lives, families, and chores to get done.  People worked hard but it was disrespectful to email and demand work the way ib seniors do.

I hear you on the email tone. I’ve told myself I’ll never email in the style of some of the people I report to.

World of difference between “Pls fix. Not sure where you got that from.” and “could you make xyz change?” or “make these changes and we’re good on this one: “. Much better to shoot straight and not add extra commentary that only shows you’re frustrated.
