Do Banks hold your resume?

I want to apply to as many places as i can for summer internships, but i'll be transferring next year and my resume is probably going to drastically change. Do Banks save your old resumes or anything or keep them on file somewhere? Don't really want it to be held against me if i don't put my old school on my resume, etc.

I can't comment on everyone of them, but I think most do simply for compliance reasons. More so if you apply online. I have had a chance to look at some internal HR systems and they keep track of what you apply for, whether you were interviewed, etc. Don't think it should dissuade you from applying though.

So what happens, say, if last year you I applied to Goldman Sachs on-line via its website and got no response, but this year Goldman Sachs is coming on campus for recruiting and I submit my resume via my school's resume drop? Will GS look at my current resume or my past resume, and will they hold it against me if they didn't contact me last year for interviews?

I applied for Goldman SA online my freshman year when I had no idea what I was doing and no idea what ibanking was.

This year, as a junior, I applied via OCR and landed an interview.

Who knows, maybe my previous application actually helped?

I can't really give you an answer for that scenario. I really don't think they will hold it against you. HR can see when you applied, but they don't have any real influence on who gets jobs or interviews. I wouldn't worry about it, people apply multiple times for positions.

Gotcha, so when the resumes are submitted via on-campus recruiting, they are sent to the investment banking team (I guess analysts, associates, and vp's), which then decides who to select for an interview, not HR. Is that how it works?
