Do transcripts say you graduated? extending graduation for internship?

im looking to extend my graduation for another internship but im seeing If i could apply for internships and then not take another semester afterwards. but i don't know if they would ask for my transcript again right before the start date and I wouldn't want it to say graduated if I need another semester at least after the internship to even qualify for it.

Thanks

should I graduate before the internship after I get the internship offer?

Based on previous WSO threads, here are some insights:

  1. Transcripts and Graduation Status:

    • Transcripts typically indicate your current academic status, including whether you have graduated or not. If you extend your graduation, your transcript should reflect that you are still enrolled and have not yet graduated.
  2. Extending Graduation for Internships:

    • Extending your graduation to accommodate an internship is a common strategy. For example, you can list your graduation date as later than originally planned if you are taking an additional semester or participating in an exchange program or another internship. This can be beneficial for securing internships as it shows you are still a student.
  3. Application and Verification:

    • When applying for internships, you can indicate your extended graduation date on your resume and applications. If asked, you can explain that your program allows for an extended graduation date due to additional academic or internship opportunities.
    • Companies may request your transcript before the start date to verify your academic status. Ensure your transcript accurately reflects your extended graduation date to avoid any discrepancies.
  4. Practical Advice:

    • If you are concerned about your transcript showing you have graduated, make sure to communicate with your academic institution to ensure your records reflect your extended status.
    • Be transparent with potential employers about your academic plans and ensure your resume and application materials are consistent with your extended graduation timeline.

By following these steps, you can effectively manage your academic status and internship applications without facing issues related to your graduation status on your transcript.

Graduation is like the one thing they will confirm and graduation date of December 202X - June 202Y is requirement #1 on all of these applications. I would not do this.

Can you take a class online? Lots of people drop to part-time if they extend grad, or graduate in December and then chill until the summer, but you cannot take 9 months off after the internship and expect them to not notice

Thank you, so I would be able to take only one class in the extended semester? Or would it be after choosing multiple classes (enough for fulltime) and then dropping most to only have 1 that semester?

Thank you

For the banks, you can do 1 online class and be part-time, they do not care one bit. Lots of people in your shoes walk for graduation in the normal May ceremony (unofficially), and then take 1 BS class in the extra semester - banks are fine with that. It's only your official grad date that matters.

Your school may have different rules, worth running by your advisor. I know some schools you have to graduate when you finish your major/core classes. Maybe hold off on a core class if you can, they'll have ideas on how to structure.
