Does JEFF Lev Fin take MBA associates??

Headed to Jefferies for the summer associate internship. The JD listed leveraged finance as one of the generalist options, but I’ve seen on WSO some comments that the lev fin group doesn’t take MBAs.

Any truth to this? I come from an internal corp finance background.

Based on the highest ranked content on WSO, there isn't specific information regarding Jefferies' Leveraged Finance (Lev Fin) group's hiring practices for MBA associates, especially concerning their summer associate internship program. However, it's common in the industry for Lev Fin groups to consider MBA candidates for associate positions, including summer internships, as these roles often require a strong understanding of financial modeling, debt structures, and market analysis, skills that MBA programs aim to develop.

Given your background in internal corporate finance, you would likely bring valuable skills to a Lev Fin role, such as understanding corporate financial statements and strategic financial planning. It's important to express your interest in Lev Fin during your internship and demonstrate your relevant skills and knowledge.

If you're concerned about the specific comments you've seen on WSO, it might be beneficial to reach out directly to HR or current employees within the Lev Fin group at Jefferies for clarification. Networking with current MBA associates or recent alumni who interned or worked at Jefferies could also provide insights into the group's openness to MBA interns.

Remember, each year can bring changes to hiring practices, and direct communication with the firm will give you the most accurate and up-to-date information. Good luck with your summer associate internship at Jefferies!
