Doing SIE and Series 63
Currently a student incoming at a MM for SA27, was wondering if doing the SIE and Series 63 exams before graduation has any value. I want to recruit FT as well and curious if having those done has any value.

Career Resources
Based on the most helpful WSO content, completing the SIE and Series 63 exams before graduation can indeed have value, especially if you're planning to recruit for full-time roles. Here's why:
SIE Exam: The SIE Exam is a foundational exam introduced by FINRA to streamline the licensing process. It covers the basics of the securities industry and does not require sponsorship, making it accessible to students. Passing the SIE demonstrates initiative and a basic understanding of the industry, which can make you stand out to recruiters. It also serves as a prerequisite for other exams like the Series 7 and 79, which are often required for investment banking roles.
Series 63 Exam: This exam is typically required for professionals who want to sell securities in most U.S. states. While it usually requires sponsorship, completing it early (if possible) shows preparedness and reduces the burden on your future employer.
Recruiting Advantage: Having these exams completed signals to firms that you're proactive and serious about a career in finance. It can also save firms time and resources, as they won't need to sponsor you for these exams later. This could give you an edge in full-time recruiting, especially at middle-market (MM) firms or other competitive roles.
Time Management: Completing these exams before graduation allows you to focus on your internship and full-time recruiting without the added pressure of studying for licensing exams.
In summary, taking the SIE and Series 63 exams before graduation can enhance your profile, demonstrate initiative, and potentially give you a competitive advantage in full-time recruiting. Just ensure you balance your preparation with your academic and internship commitments.

Lol u will have plenty of time for these exams later stop it virgin
Do it
does not help you at all. plus the firms dont even sponsor you right now, so you'll have to do it on your own dime, which just makes no sense.
Like not at all? I’m not interning sophomore summer thought it might be productive.
My firm paid for our FT class to take both of those throughout senior year so I would just wait tbh.
