EB Analyst role vs MM PE" 500m deployed capital" Analyst role?
Hello everyone,
I was wondering what do you think about the two career paths/ opportunities, for someone whose end game is to get into PE and hopefully reach partner level.
The EB Analyst 1 role is in an EB IB in Dubai and the PE role is in MENA too. I am kinda confused, should the path be EB IB 2-3 years then try to get into Actis or other leading MENA region PE as an associate? or should I just start in PE as an analyst and climb the ladder?
I am doing Masters in Finance at IE Business school and I want to plan which one should be the much more efficient and logical path and why.
Looking forward to your reply!
PE analyst program is generally better, but you’ve got to make sure 1) you’re doing more execution than sourcing and 2) they’ve got more capital to deploy (i.e. not just portfolio ops).
Thanks for the reply man!
Well, from what I know they are drawing down from 850 million, so they are still deploying. However, in terms of " Execution vs Sourcing" I can't be sure at the moment.
Can you share with me why do you think the PE Analyst program would be better than EB IB in Dubai?
Thanks!
I don’t know anything about the region, but PE is much better training for PE than is IB. Kids who do execution-heavy buy-side analyst programs are typically killers by the time they hit associate.
Sounds great! On a side note, do you have any specific information on which PE funds are " easier" to go up the ladder to partner level? I've heard it is extremely hard at the top Mega funds, and i was wondering which are better in terms of progression and still be with a good firm so that I could work on a list of companies to target after IE.
