EB or HF SA
Have offers at one of EVR/LAZ/Moelis and a somewhat known multi-strat HF where I'd be doing L/S equity investing, with the potential to branch out into other strategies. Name brand obviously much stronger at the EB, but probably more interested in investing and definitely looking to be in a HF long term. Only thing is, I'd definitely like one of the more prestigious value funds long term (Lone Pine, Viking, Maverick, etc), and feels like the multi-strat, while an awesome learning experience, would not necessarily set me up for that as they tend to take only the 2+2 (sometimes just 2 yrs IB/PE now) path with fewer deviations. Any advice appreciated.
Congrats on the offers. Seems like the L/S route gets bashed a little too much on here--see this comment for more. If you’re really interested in that long term, it seems like the time in L/S is really not an issue and might end up saving you a few years.
Congrats on securing both offers! Given your interest in working in HF long term, I would take the L/S role. Can't go wrong though as both are great options.
If L/S is valid path and keeps options open, think I’m heavily leaning towards that… comp is also somewhat materially higher, which is a decent plus lol. Thanks so much guys!
Did you have networking with the HF or just apply online?
They did an info session at my school, applied from there
