Econ Major from a UC
I am an economics major transferring to a either Berkeley or UCSD. I have recently been giving much thought about what I exactly want to do when I graduate but right now I'm at a cross I suppose. What are the realistic chances of breaking into the IB world coming from either Cal or UCSD?
Sorry if this is the completely wrong section for this question. If it is could some please be as kind as to point me in the correct direction?
You have a much stronger chance at Cal than UCSD. UCSD ranking isn't as strong and is much more STEM focused, great for premed and bio-engineering. Also Cal's econ program is the top out of the UCs by a wide margin.
This man speaks the truth. The big banks love Berkley grads. My good friend who had no desire to do Ibanking was actually approached by Goldman Sachs while at Berkley. He turned them down, which killed me inside...
Cal hands down for finance, though you will most likely end up working on the west coast. UCSD for STEM, especially engineering in the defense sector.
Definitely go to Cal. UCSD has absolutely no banking presence. The only banks that came to OCR last year were UBS and RBC and I believe the only reason UBS came was because of Aryeh Bourkoff and a director at the SF office. Both have moved on and with the cuts at UBS, I doubt they're coming back.
Why is it either UCB or SD?
Why no UCLA?
