Energy Asset Valuations

Hello Everybody,

I received a job offer from a firm in NYC that invests in energy assets. They work on all stages, developing, financing and trading and distributing from the asset. They primarily purchase gas power plants and oil fields. My primary responsibility would be to work on asset valuations for potential investments as well as working on project finance, working with other analyst to raise the debt (they partner with some reputable names to finance some of their projects). I was wondering if this type of financial modeling, DCFs of power plants and oil fields could lead to a nice paying gig at an investment banking utility group or a job at a private equity shop. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

-Thanks
