Exit to Palantir — thoughts?

Anyone know much about Palantir? A recruiter hit my line last week. Want to know if it's something interesting — looking to exit into a non-financial sector, so definitely a positive for me there.

I could probably swing a spot in their BizDev too based on my talks with the recruiter

Huh? Palantir pays starting better than most banks. And even in this job getting street compensation it takes years to catch up to their salary. Starting 140k (salary, not including options and bonus) and bump to 170k after. OP Google - (Some Top Old Investment Bank) Deployment Strategist LinkedIn - see if he will talk to you

But it really comes down to what you want... I'd go through the process and weigh your opportunities for yourself. Don't rely on some forum to give you advice on what you want to do. If Finance is what you really want to do (including PE) stay where you are. If you want to go do Tech, Palantir is a cool company and a great place to work (at least you develop some really good skills) if you are comfortable with their political leanings...

Source: I have quite a few of friends who work there including a buddy I've been close to for over 10 years...

Very cool role - You'll basically be going on-site to make sure the product is being used the best way s.t. it adds the most value. I would take it over most IBs if you are not sold on finance.

Controversial

You are presumably a hardworking, intelligent young person with wide array of potential opportunities in front of you. Do you really want to use your talents and a portion of your early career to advance a firm whose business model is in direct opposition to civil liberties? We are all investment bankers here so nobody is really spending their life assisting orphans and widows, but I would draw a line between providing access to capital markets and enabling M&A activity versus directly supporting ICE, broken-windows policing, and a surveillance state. Maybe I am a hypocrite though.

I started my career in consulting and Palantir was regarded as a desirable exist for first and second year analysts. I always thought it was sad to be 22-23 years old and already have lost all idealism. Whatever. Those people are all a lot wealthier than I am today.
