F500 internship after sophomore year?

Would working in corporate finance for a F500 company be a waste of time after my sophomore year? Last year after my freshman year I really did nothing, just lifeguarding and getting drunk the entire summer - so I'm not sure if my resume is strong enough to get something really noticeable. Also, I'm white and don't have any internal connections, so most of the BB sophomore programs are out of my reach this year. I just want to make sure I'm not wasting my time this summer if I accept this ternship in corporate finance.

Thanks

P.S. I go to a semi-target

AsianMonkyVerizon?
No, I don't want to post the company name so its going to be pretty useless to play the guessing game. Its more about whether corp finance would be a good choice for the summer

I'll do what I can to help ya'll. But, the game's out there, and it's play or get played.

Completely agree.

But does anyone have any insight into my question?

AsianMonkyHow big of a company is it? Is it brand name? It will help you more if it's along the lines of AT&T/Verizon/P&G/Intel compared to..F300~500 companies.
The companies you listed are all F20 with the exception of P&G which is still F30

The company that I got an offer from is in the F150 range. It's name is well known by those in its industry, but I wouldn't really call it a brand name everyone would easily recognize.

This thread is terrible. You have no other options. Yes, take the damn thing. If you're that worried about it, keep looking for something better - but accept it regardless! Right now your options are this, or nothing... Post a thread like this when you've got a real dilemma. You said yourself, your resume is garbage... there's only one way to make it better.

Careful with assumptions. My resume is far from garbage (just not good enough to get an SA stint as a soph), and I do have another offer to a superregional bank (think NT/PNC). I'd just much rather work at the F150 company because it is minutes from home and pays a little bit better. Wanted to know if that was a waste of time.

So your post is terrible. Post a comment when you've got some real (helpful) insight.

OH SNAP!

Anyways, I would think that the bank is your best bet career-wise unless they have you doing pointless petty work and the F500 company gives you meaningful experience. It sounds like you'd enjoy the F500 more, though, and I know it's probably the last summer you'll be able to stay home, so I agree it's a tough call.

Either one sounds like a good option, so I wouldn't worry too much. Pick the one that you're more passionate about, it will show in your interviews. Hope that's helpful.

Congrats on the offers by the way!
