Fall and Spring Internships
Hey guys,
I will be a college freshmen in the fall but I’ve already networked with some people and have some opportunities to Intern during the fall or spring semesters. It would potentially be with MS or UBS in PWM. I was just wondering if given the opportunity should I try and intern during the school year. And if so I would need to commute a little bit. Could this wreck my GPA and put me at a disadvantage in the long term?
Thanks all.
Freshman year will be your easiest year. You will have a decent amount of free time and if you want to spend it interning than go for it. It will be great for your resume, but your social life will be non-existent if you want to keep a high GPA. Are you at a target or non-target?
I will be at a non-target.
Do the internship.
Absolutely do the internship; chances are it won't be too demanding and rather will be great for building your resume.
The compounding effect a position at this stage has is not to be underestimated, especially from a non-target. I did a few mid-year internships myself and benefited greatly
