FIG Banking Space
Hey Everyone,
Hoping to get some updated insights on the FIG space — last thread is somewhat old.
Assuming GS still dominates the space. Are the usual suspects (JPM and MS) the next big players in the market?
Which banks house fintech under FIG vs tech?
What has happened to the MM/regional bank space since the Piper Sandler merger? Are Sandler and KBW still the dominant force?
JPM, GS, and MS definitely dominate. Lazard does pretty well and CS has had some impressive mandates lately.
KBW and Piper Sandler do very well in the regional banking space.
Thanks man, didn't realize Lazard was a big player in the space
I think they used to be stronger back in the day, but still get decent deal flow. I feel like once you get past the top names, it becomes more vertical specific.
Ardea partners is also very big. New bank founded by ex GS head of FiG
Broadhaven
From the boutiques end, Lazard does well and PWP hits Insurance/Insurtech out of the park. There are other smaller firms that crush FIG like Broadhaven and Ardea.
GS is the best, FIG is expansive so every bank has a specialty with each sector. JP is good w Specfin, CS good w AM and WM from what I’ve seen, UBS also good w insurtech and spacs (Pershing) PWP is amazing with insurtech and brokerage. BAML FIG is strong from what I’ve heard but unsure of sector.
any thoughts on Citi/ Barclays FIG?
