First Year Student/Internship Resume - Target school for finance
Hi
I am a first year student at a target school for finance. I am going to be applying for BMO Capital Markets summer internship program.
Attached is the resume, please advice me on what I could change. I do not have any relevant working experience. I am a first year student, so expect it to be pretty bad.
Thanks!
.
fixed it
take work status off. you're in canada applying for a canadian job, no?
.
You know that BMO is pretty strict about taking 3rd years only right? Probably one of the strictest out of the Canadian banks.
Even for summer internship programs? its this one: http://www.bmo.com/pdf/Student_Internship_Program_Can.pdf
Unless you are applying for areas other than Capital Markets. I have talked to Canadian recruiters and bankers extensively (as I am from the Great White North originally) and only National Bank makes exceptions to taking juniors as they sometimes take French speaking sophomores when there's a shortage.
What about boutique banks/firms in toronto?
By all means go for it. Try cold-calling if you can. However, you'll be competing with keen sophomores from the likes of Western, Queen's and McGill. Don't be crushed if you don't get something this summer as most students don't know what they want to do till the end of sophomore year.
I have an internship in china for finance this summer, I am just trying my luck here.
That's great! Having an international experience would be good on your resume, especially if its finance related.
Thanks, any changes you would recommend for the resume other then the formatting
what compels you to post this 4 times.
When you use so much of that space for technicals, expect to be grilled. Use more of the space for school involvement, way too one dimensional.
Take out space between 1 and "Annual" under activities same thing for "an introduction" under Financial Modelling Group Inc
