Focus on Interview Questions or Modellng
When prioritizing prep for analyst interviews, should I focus more on modeling skills or just answering the standard questions?
My current take is that the modeling course I'm doing should be completed first then I can move onto interview questions.
You always need the strong modeling / IB technical question in place, but these are merely a check the box and won't land you an offer. IB analysts, associates, vps, and above will (almost) always know more than you when it comes to that stuff, so once you've had all the pre-recs down, focus on behavioral, situational, prior experience, culture, and fit questions. Practice your answers in a mirror. Try to be charasmatic and come across as a person. IB wants to hire people that fit in their group, since we all work hard and spend long hours together
Agreed. I'm just thinking between the two materials which is a better place to start: the questions or a full modeling course?
