George K. Baum

Hey,

I was wondering if anybody knows anything about the firm George K. Baum (it's a public finance ib)? Can you do anything coming out of here (i.e. exit opps)? Would it make you a competitive business school applicant assuming you meet other requirements (+700 GMAT, solid GPA, ECs, Recs)? I went to H/P/Y undergrad and just received an offer from these guys. Once in business school, could you leverage this into traditional ib or other roles? Thanks in advance for any input.

Excellent municipal bond business, also a solid regional boutique for M&A. I know analysts in the past have gone on to top business schools and bigger banks and the firm is usually very supportive here, but I don't know how common this is. Also, great corporate is great and while the salaries might not seem great compared with banks in NYC or other big cities, your money will go MUCH farther in kansas city or denver than it will in new york.

I can't really comment on the bond business, but I can say a couple things about the proportionately smaller M&A advisory business. In terms of exit opportunities, I know one analyst went to a top 5 law school and some others went on to MM PE. Which office are you looking at?
