Going back to IB?

Anyone done it, and if so what was your experience? Love to hear different view points on this.

I started my career as an analyst at a BB before moving to buyside roles where I've spent the last 4 years. Having now worked with genuinely strong bankers (and interacted more heavily with senior bankers) I think my perspective on banking has changed a fair amount, and I'm less repelled at the prospect of being a Director or MD at a bank now vs. 6 years ago as a 22 year old naive college grad.

Underrated question!https://media2.giphy.com/media/yj5UdA4elp8Wc/giphy.gif" alt="Going back to IB?" />

Will update my computer soon and leave Incognito so I will disappear forever. How did I achieve Neanderthal by trolling? Some people are after me so need to close account for safety.

Yeah I went back and didn’t mind it. Left a BB associate role to try quant. Found quant disappointing, decided I’m all about fundamental stuff whether that’s as an investor or banker. IB came calling first so I went to an EB as a VP, then left when I got my current role as a fundamental analyst. Didn’t really mind my first or 2nd banking stint. If I get tired of this I might even give IB a 3rd try, would probably target an industry-specific boutique next time.

You went back to the buyside after banking round 2?? Obviously you got the gig but how was that broadly received when you were trying to go back to the investment side? Were folks suspicious on why you didn't stick it out on investment side? What type of buyside role are you at now? For context I'm thinking of heading back to banking after 2.5yrs of credit work to change industry focus / get more rx experience and am curious, if I ever wanted to go back to the investment side if that would be possible.
