Goldman Sachs Undergraduate Diversity Summit

Hey board. Looking for some advice. I was invited to attend Goldman Sachs Undergraduate Diversity Summit. It's one day of panel discussions, divisional overviews, and networking with people at the firm in New York. By plane, I am 6 hours away from New York. Still, I would need a hotel as well as plane fare. Goldman will refund 250 for the trip. Is it worth it for me to attend this summit for the money I will spend to get there?

I got invited to this last year. Sort of amusing as I am a white male... I decided not to go but one of my friends went. What you have to ask yourself, is do I want to go to New York on a subsidized trip? My recommendation would be to go and try to set up some meetings with any contacts you have. This is all assuming that you are interested in banking... Also, if your resume is weak, you can always add this under activities or extracurriculars.

yeah. I think that diversity is as much as experience and geographic as well as race. Thank you for your input by the way. I am interested in banking. Could you tell me what your friend learned from attending? Thanx!

Rickets-While academically your statement is correct, I doubt many investment banks would say, "Man, we sure could use some white kids to increase diversity around here!"

I can't say exactly what my friend learned because I think it is greatly exagerated by her resume. I would suggest you check it out, get some names to follow up with, and visit some other friends up there.

DaniNo...I am interested to apply for it too...when you applied...did you basically just attach your resume or did you actually write a blurb in the e-mail about why you want to go and what makes you qualify for this event? Thank you so much.
