Good idea?
Since so many people apply that recruiters just get a big stack of resumes, is it a good idea to send a resume multiple times? The downside is obviously they remember your name and ding you, but since there are so many resumes i dont think thats too likely. So - wouldn't you get multiple chances at getting picked, especially if different people read it at different times?
if it's a shitty resume, it will always be a shitty resume
No, that will not work, because on campus recruiting will only let you submit it once. If you are talking about through the firms website that will not work as well because your name/SSN/birthdate are attached to your app/login
what about applying online though - and running - if its a borderline resume and one reader had a good day, and one reader had a bad day i think it can really make or break whether or not you get interview. im not gonna be sending 2 resumes (unethical, etc) but do you think it can help you if you do?
i think 4-5 times is the sweet spot. i think they just trash resumes periodically and wait for new ones. make sure to send 4-5 times to make it through those stupid systems.
Just make it pink and scented
a better idea would be to put a different name on top of each resume. Then if you do get an interview, you can tell them they screwed up with the name, but not the rest of the resume.
Imagine you were at a company trying to do your job, keep your bosses happy, retain what was left of your sanity, etc. - and on top of all that you need to review resumes. And you find that some joker has sent his resume six times and is wasting your time and confusing you and throwing you off your system of resume review. What would your first instinct be? "Let's get this guy in here!" or "What a douche, where's the garbage can?"
when theres so many resumes how do you remember? maybe change formatting six times so it looks different; i think it can actually work ( i wont do it)
And what happens when your resume gets selected twice, or three times? Your strategy would only work if they threw out every resume but one. I'd say there is less of a chance of that happening than your straight up applying and moving on.
