Greensill Capital
Hi all,
Anyone have any experiences with the above? Was reading an FT article about what they do a few minutes ago & seems really interesting. Would love to hear what people have to say about the firm.
Seems to me like a firm that likes to call itself a fintech, but is actually just a mini bank with Analysts, MDs, etc.
Cheers!
Think they do factoring or reverse factoring (financing a company’s payables via buying their vendor / suppliers’ AR). Don’t know much about them besides SoftBank investing at a pretty crazy valuation during the last couple of years. Also David Cameron is their “advisor” - not sure what it means but pretty interesting.
yeah that's right. It's an interesting avenue of financing I think.
Anyone else got their $0.02?
This is correct - primarily trade finance / supply chain finance, but also have derivatives of those such as equipment lease transactions. Basically they take an irrevocable payment from a corporate to somebody else in the supply chain and turn that into a note. So very similar to factoring, but not just an invoice but an obligation to pay.
Don't know much about actually working there / what type of experience you'd get.
