GS Cross Markets Group
What’s the latest thoughts on GS CMG? Seems to be a lot of deals announced by the group. What are exits looking like? Comp?

I knew 2 people in the group. Group is a mix of people who used to work in other groups. Deal flow is good, culture was not described as positive.Edit: I don't know about exits, comp is GS standard.

Sat in traditional classic group and have worked with these guys. They do the same work we did just as a generalist and with smaller companies (less than ~$5B EV). We actually got staffed with them on deals ( might see MD - FIG VP CMG- FIG , AS CMG-FIG,, and then An FIG on a deal) with no bifurcation externally). Do a lot of our Financial Sponsor M&A (which makes sense because of EV size coverage)
Actually seems like a cool experience, getting able to see tech, industrials, healthcare, consumer, NR, all in a few months if want that experience
Have worked with them on few deals, the culture seems great, often lax with dress code / WFH. But, they seem to get worked because of deal flow. Guessing a lot of 1/2/3 $B companies would rather have GS as their advisor than the boutiques.
Plenty of client exposure too since companies smaller / deal team lean. Have seen first year analysts ( less than few month on the desk) flying out for client meetings etc.
Judging by your post, did you get to work with a certain MD in FIG CMG who used to be in Corporate Derivates (initials KVF)? Was a total badass I loved the guy when I was in Corp Derivs way back when. Left GS FIG before he moved to classic tho.
How are exits from CMG?
I read in the job description they do complex’s M&A deals, do you mind expanding on that? Thank you
Lol isn't that on any M&A job description ?
.
Bump
Where do they announce their deals? I haven't seen any announcement from Goldman that specified CMG.
