MSI doesn't take anyone out of undergrad. PCI has had a few analysts who have had pretty good Tech and general PE & HF exits.. They will both place well, but I think in terms of ease, access to recruiters and generally a very strong pipeline, a top group at GS (TMT/FIG) will get you to your goal easier than PCI who maybe has 2 analysts and might hire 1 or 2 every other year or so and isn't a pipeline for funds... (Funds that I know SSG has placed analysts at over the past few years: (2 Centerbridge, 1 King Street Capital Management, 1 Jones Road Capital)

I can say for a fact that at least in 2014 and 2015 - MSI did take people straight from undergrad. I have friends that started off in MSI. one went to Viking and another was the son of Moelis. MSI should get you better placed than TMT/FIG at any hedge fund, it’s well known across the street even though there’s not nearly as big of a pipeline. for PE the IBD groups are better. PCI will be a little harder to place at a HF imo vs. TMT/FIG and for PE probably I would still every so slightly take the IBD groups. you should be fine regardless but based on the work you’re doing in MSI and PCI, you get the investor mindset but you’re not working on whole buyout deals (even in PCI).
