If you do Apollo and SMIF at UGA and keep your GPA as high as possible 3.7+, ideally higher, you will probably get into banking, but you need to do well in the interview process. Also these are hard to get into.

I’d argue Tech has a better business school in general, but if you are a top student at UGA, you shouldn’t have an issue.

Current 2nd year at GT Scheller, same position as you got into UGA and GT. At Tech there is the investments committee and within that club there is another club called Accel which is a investment banking accelerator sort of speak. It is extremely valuable and has a very high placement rate for junior year internships and post grad. I have friends at UGA doing IB as well and they wish at times they went to Tech when it comes to getting a career. Also being right in Atlanta there are so many local IB and other companies that love to recruit during the year and summer right from Tech. Obviously I am a little bias because I go to Tech, but take it with a grain of salt.

Current student at GT and I don't think you can really go wrong with either. I think UGA will give you a better network long term which will help as Tech has not had many placements in banking over history. Tech is more known outside of the south which can help give you a better brand name. But if your set on IB/PE right out of undergrad for sure I would go with UGA. If you have any doubts on career path I would go GT.

I think Georgia Tech offers a lot more opportunities if one day in college, you decide that you no longer want to pursue IB.

I'm obviously super biased since I went to Tech, but between the Investments Committee and Accel program, BB/EB and MBB placement are quite common (but this is an extremely selective sample compared to the rest of the school).

However, if you want the quintessential college experience and are a big fan of college sports then you might lean more toward UGA. But as always: THWG

GT is a higher ranked business school. It’s going to be slightly more respectable, but both schools are going to require more networking than a standard target so anyone pointing you to clubs and “societies” is just stating the obvious.

There is little doubt in my mind that Tech carries more national recognition given it’s a better business school, and one of the top public schools in the nation. If you are planning to work in ATL/CLT/Nashville then UGA will have a good network, but outside of SE it’s not going to go that far.

I think you can get where you want to go either way, but Tech is objectively an advantage (albeit slight) just from pure rankings and national respect.
