Half Middle Eastern as Diversity

Hi all. I’m wondering if being half middle eastern, half white counts when it comes to applying for diversity programs. I’m not trying to get through to an interview and have the interviewer be puzzled when a white looking guy walks in, but at the same time there are so many diversity programs out there for freshmen and sophomores that I don’t want to miss out on the opportunities if I could have applied.

Middle Eastern isn't even considered diversity in the first place, by any bank.

The Middle East is in Asia so yes. If they say you aren’t Asian, and they don’t mean original Asia aka turkey, then they are just making up shit and you can therefore make up shit too.

But that’s not how “Asian” is used colloquially in the US, nor how the Census Bureau defines it (assuming OP is in the US - I’m not sure about other countries). Here the Census lumps people from the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe into one group called “white”. It’s the same as how some white people call themselves Caucasian, despite the fact that very few people can actually trace their roots back to the Caucasus mountains. We’ve never been really accurate about our racial classifications in this country, but it’s clear what people mean when they use a certain term.

There they go again making up more shit. The term they mean is Mongoloid.  If they are not going to use that term they’re just making shit up so you can just make shit up.

Yes. Generally people middle-eastern counts as diversity status. I would say, however, that this moreso applies to someone wearing a turban.

If someone gives you shit, just thrown in that you're bisexual or something idk

Except, Muslims also wear Turbans (typically Shias).

Ever see artwork of Saladin? Dude wore a Turban. Ofc, you'll probably say that not all muslims wear turbans and most wear a different headress, but you're not scoring any SJW points on WSO.

Sure he can! That's part of the story.

He should say he ran away from home because he was threatened by his extended family, and then he went OOS to get away from them.

Don’t know about London but in the US Middle Eastern isn’t diverse. Asian isn’t diverse either. Unless you’re a woman
