Harris Williams F&B Associate 1 Interview

Folks,

For an initial interview with a Director in the consumer group, what should I anticipate? In terms of technical questions, should the standard DCF and LBO be prepared? I cannot think of any specific “tough” technical questions that may fall into the consumer sector valuation but please advise.

As you may guess, I am pivoting from a non-consumer group so forgive me for my naive questions. Thank you in advance!

Dude... HW only has one office that does all of NA F&B with ~20 people in the office. We're going to know who you are lol

I did not mean not to offend you but I think it is fair to prepare myself well. It is ok for you to know who I am. Just like thousands of other people who are on here asking for tips and guidance, I am not an exception. At least I have made an attempt to prepare and show that I am devoted to what I am about to do in the future. Thank you for your response!

Know some of the notable and recent F&B transactions that have closed and your thoughts on it. Understand sales channels like wholesale (B2B), e-commerce (DTC), company stores and generally how margins differ. Understand sales tactics such as analyzing ROAS across social media platforms, website/location traffic, ACV %, customer retention rates, AOV, 4-wall analysis, SKU rationalization, return on various marketing campaigns. Understand shifting industry dynamics (better-for-you products, shift towards e-commerce sales, Omnichannel model, etc.). Just some thoughts off the top of my head.
