Have i gotten the job??
Hi everyone!
I just finished an internship at a BB firm. I will only know from HR whether i got a perm job offer sometime in late sept or mid oct and the wait is killing
However, as far as both my midterm n final appraisal with my manager i aced it as in my manager selected the option that he will recommend me for hire and i got a almost perfect score for the criterias for whihc my manager had to evaluate me.
I was worried about my final presentation infront of senior management but thankfully it turned out to be one of the best based on feedback received. I got this feedback from a director whose like 2 ranks higher than my manager and he said that the panel feedback to him that it was very good and one of the best they have seen
On the final day when i went to talk to the director and pass him some chocs as it was my last day, he asked me do i want to come back.. i said yes but that i will only know whether i made it in a couple of months time. He then gave me his name card n told me to think about which department i would like to work in and give him a call once i've decided. I dunno whether he means that i have made it or that hes saying call him back only if i get an offer and then tell him my preference... At the end of the day when i was saying my final farewells, he told me hope to see you here in 1 years time...
Finally when i was having my final appraisal with my manager , he told me that he heard feedback also that my presenation was one of the best and that the person who gave my manager the feedback old him that he should consider hiring me...
Do you guys think heres any chance at all that i might not be given an offer?? to wait until sept/oct to find out if i have made it is killing...
you have the offer.
dude are you for real? the only way you might not get an offer is if you try to burn the building down
im still skeptic caus i did not really network much... the only people i really got to know very well were my teammates. did not really talk to other bigshots at the bank
even the director wo gave me his namecard, i did not talk much to him even though he was situated 2 metres from me... most of the time i was thinking that he must have thought im a hopeless guy caus i just said hi/bye to him most of the time and i seemed unproductive caus although i get the given job done i project a relaxed and slack image unlike other interns who seemed to project an on the ball image and i guess the thing which made him really take note of me was after the feedback he received from the panel after my final presentation and that was like the last few days..
i am also not that close to the HR recruiters like some other interns... so i'm just anxious whether my lack of networking with big shots in my division as well as HR will affect me getting an offer...
being close with HR is always a very good thing, but above all ur group is the one that tells HR whether they want u back...plus, the bigshots want to see how well u get the job done and fit in with the group...in this case ur teammates are the 'group' as the bigshots have other stuff to keep them busy. relax
you have the offer.
dude, burn the building down.
You got the offer.
Recruiting people costs money. If they think you are ok to good even if they do not know who you are, they would much rather give you an offer than spend money recruiting more people.
To the OP, do you go to a target school? And what is your major and gpa. Im a prospective starting frosh year and was just wondering how you seemingly nailed your offer so smoothly.
hey there! i dun think i can use the target school term to refer to myself as i'm from asia pacific region although the company i interned at is regarded as a BB in the US and UK.
So i guess the criteria here is different as we use different grading systems and there r only so much universities in a country here unlike the states where there are 100s of universities

Good luck.
lol. it's so funny, everyone in banking is plagued with insecurity (i'm no exception).
Sounds like you got it, buddy! congrats :]
